Why is my eBay tracking stuck on “In Transit”?

It’s common for eBay tracking to remain on “In Transit” for several days or even weeks, especially for international or economy shipments. This status simply means the package is still moving through the carrier’s network, even if no new scans appear. Common reasons include:

1. The package is between carrier facilities
Shipments often travel long distances without intermediate scans. Air transit, sea transit, or ground transport can result in days with no updates.

2. Customs processing delays
International packages may be held for inspection, which can pause tracking until the item is released by customs.

3. Economy shipping methods update less often
Services like USPS Media Mail, UPS Mail Innovations, ePacket, or low-cost international carriers may only scan the parcel at major checkpoints.

4. The package switched carriers
When the parcel is handed off (e.g., from an international carrier to USPS or Royal Mail), there may be a gap before the new carrier scans it.

5. Weather or transportation disruptions
Bad weather, flight cancellations, strikes, or regional delays can slow movement without showing new tracking events.

6. The carrier missed a scan
Not every package is scanned at every step. The item may still be moving even if the tracking doesn’t update.

Most “In Transit” statuses resolve automatically once the package reaches the next major facility or your local delivery service.
If the tracking has not updated past the estimated delivery date, you can contact the seller or open an “Item not received” case.
