Will I pay customs or VAT on a parcel arriving in Cyprus?

Parcels from outside the EU are subject to 19% VAT in Cyprus. Many marketplaces collect this at checkout through the EU IOSS scheme for goods under 150 euro, so the parcel is released without an extra charge. If VAT was not prepaid, Cyprus Post sends an SMS with a link to pay the VAT plus a fixed presentation-to-customs fee online before the item is delivered.
